    Job Description

    DESCRIPTION:

    This is an unpaid internship, which serves as a continuation of a current education program, or otherwise performs a wide variety of administrative or technical services and/or support depending on the nature of the internship, the needs of the Company department, and the scope of the individual's knowledge, skills, education, and abilities. 

    The Information Technology / Cyber Security (IT/CS) Internship is an unpaid opportunity for a current college student to gain valuable skills and perspective from the industry, and continue their education in the discipline of IT/CS.  

    Expected Internship Timeframe: Monday, June 7 – Thursday, Aug 12, 2021 (10-weeks)

     

    SCOPE OF ASSIGNMENT: 

    The Information Technology / Cyber Security (IT/CS) Internship is an unpaid opportunity for a current college student to gain valuable skills and perspective from the industry, and continue their education in the discipline of IT/CS.  As an IT/CS Intern, you will focus on anyone (1) of these possible assignments:

    1. Research the best practices and tools used for implementing security to protect a cloud network infrastructure.
    2. Research how to be an effective team member on an Agile team – identify the roles and rules of order.
    3. Research the NIST and any other federal regulations related to federal contractors doing business for the Federal Government and needing to ensure information security.  
    4. Research how to build a SharePoint site design for an organization, and show a system demo of a mock site.
    5. Research the best practices and tools for managing an IT Help Desk system.  
    6. Research and write and test code for a fully functional portal design integrating different software applications. 
    7. Research and analyze the emerging trends in artificial intelligence for business optimization. 
    8. Research and write and test code for a fully functional application.
    9. Research the DevSecOps approach to software development continuous delivery cycle.

     

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

    1. High school diploma.
    2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
    3. Ability to ensure confidentiality as needed, and always maintain professionalism in all situations.
    4. Ability to work collaboratively with others.
    5. Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational, time-management, and emotional intelligence.

     

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

    1. Competent relevant technical skills, coursework, interests, and characteristics (including but not limited to knowledge of information technology, computer skills, cyber security, business writing, design/creativity, business intelligence and analytics, business communication, attention to detail, and decision making).
    2. Capability and drive to do the following: 
      1. Collect and analyze data.
      2. Research the tools and methods used for completion of IT or Cyber Security functions.
      3. Research IT/CS strategies and present information to an audience.
      4. Write business materials, such as process documents, lessons learned, training presentation, sample policy documents, etc.
      5. Create graphical representations of data and translate research into content that is readable by stakeholders, other departments, and potential clients.
      6. Research online materials in the federal and state regulatory agencies.

     

     

    LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

    The IT/CS Intern will learn how to apply research, analysis, and communication skills in an industry environment.  The IT/CS Intern will learn to write and create an effective, professional document and presentation based on the actual research and information gained through the intern’s independent research and collaboration with a C-HIT mentor, and with other resources.  The IT/CS Intern will learn about an industry- and IT/CS-relevant topic, as identified above.
