    Job Summary

    C2 Environmental, Inc. is a small, rapidly growing business located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We focus on environmental planning, permitting and compliance services for a variety of clients including regional utility providers, federal agencies, educational institutions, local governments, and private sector developers within the Mid-Atlantic region. We are well-known for our work in the energy and infrastructure sectors where we provide a suite of services for electric transmission facilities as well as coastal and waterfront facilities. C2 Environmental is seeking a qualified individual for the Regulatory Specialist/Planner position.

    Responsibilities The Regulatory Specialist/Planner position is responsible for a variety of project support related tasks to assist primarily with utility line corridor routing and siting applications. Duties may include a combination of the following dependent on applicant qualifications:

    · Providing support for permit applications and environmental documentation associated with electric transmission line projects with an emphasis on Virginia State Corporation Commission (SCC) regulations, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act Sections 401/404, and other state and local regulations

    · Contributing to the preparation of permit applications including research, report writing, data compilation and organization, and data and literature review

    · Researching local land use regulations, navigating county level land use plans, and researching planned development applications

    · Coordinating with GIS staff on mapping and analysis needs

    · Participating in project related client, agency and public meetings

    · Coordination and consultation with federal, state, and local agencies

    Qualifications

    B.S. or M.S. degree in environmental science, natural resources, environmental planning, or similar field

    1-5 years experience in environmental permitting with specific emphasis on NEPA, Section 404/401 regulations, Virgina SCC, DOT, railroad, and county and local permitting

    Strong writing skills and attention to detail are required

    Direct experience with alternatives analyses is preferred

    Ability to manage and prioritize multiple complex tasks preferably with past environmental consulting firm experience

    Basic proficiency in GIS

    Direct experience with utilities and linear projects strongly desired

    Effective written and oral communication skills

    Ability to work well in diverse groups of people and without direct supervision

    Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed

    The position may require field work and travel (approximately 15%) primarily, but not limited to, Virginia and North Carolina. Some overnight travel may be required. The current position is offered on a full-time basis.
