    JOB TITLE: CHILD CARE QUALITY INITIATIVES SPECIALIST

    LOCATION: SAN ANTONIO, TX

    JOB OVERVIEW:

    This position is responsible for coordinating effective quality initiatives for current Texas Rising Star (TRS) providers and potential providers interested in the Texas Rising Star program. Responsible with the coordination and implementation of all TRS related activities associated with the Child Care Services (CCS) Program. Duties will include those of the child care quality initiatives specialist and assisting the Child Care Solutions Manager with the child care program.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the development of the child care quality initiatives training and investment plan.

    • Responsible for coordination and implementation of all TRS provider related activity within established Timeframes. Activities may include registration, classroom setup, preparation of materials/handouts, etc.

    • Ensure that training is accessible to all child care providers within the WDA.

    • Maintains and updates child care quality initiatives database.

    • Maintains the Texas Rising Star information updated in the TWIST Application and the Child Care Provider Database (Provider Listing)

    • Monitors TRS providers for Child Care Attendance Automation (CCAA) compliance.

    • Coordinates the development and purchase of developmentally appropriate materials.

    • Interprets and communicates provider policies and procedures information, as needed

    • Observes and follows through with all required timeframes

    • Maintains a professional work area

    • Provides excellent customer service

    • Travel is required to carry assigned functions

    • Attends trainings and conferences as needed; travel overnight as necessary

    • Performs other duties as assigned

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Child Development; Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 12 semester hours in child development plus two (2) years of fulltime experience in Child care, Child Development, Head Start, or Early Childhood Education.

    • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Child Development; Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 12 semester hours in child development, plus four (4) years of full-time experience in Child care, Child Development, Head Start, or Early Childhood Education.

    • Possession of a Child Development Associate Credential may be substituted for one required year of experience.

    • One additional year of experience in management or supervisory capacity may be substituted for one year (30 semester hours) of college work other than the 12 semester hours in child development, with a maximum substitution of two years.

    • Knowledge of child care, child development and childhood education; supervisory and management techniques are required.

    • Effectively manage multiple projects

    • Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license subject to an approved motor vehicle report and reliable transportation for travel within the service delivery area.

    • Analytical and problem solving skills.

    • Detail orientation and strong organizational and documentation skills.

    • Good computer software skills for database, reports and spreadsheets.

    • Good communication skills with customers, providers and internal staff.

    • Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with management, coworkers, workers from other programs as well as the public.

    • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred (speak).

    • Must be observant, patient, with good communication skills.
