A PRIVATE SCHOOL IN MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS SEEKS AN EXPERIENCED ACCOUNTANT. THE ACCOUNTANT WILL WORK CLOSELY WITH THE CONTROLLER AND JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT . AS WE ARE A SMALL SCHOOL WITH A SMALL STAFF, THE ACCOUNTANT MUST HAVE A HANDS-ON APPROACH TO WORK WITH A VARIETY OF CONSTITUENTS TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT GOOD ACCOUNTING PRACTICES, EFFICIENCY, AND COMMUNICATIONS. THIS 12- MONTH POSITION’S PRIMARY FUNCTION IS TO WORK CLOSELY WITH THE CFO & COO AND BUSINESS OFFICE TEAM AND PROVIDE A LEVEL OF EXPERTISE IN THE AREAS OF ACCOUNTING RANGING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ALL FUNCTIONS OF THE FINANCE DEPARTMENT.
ACCOUNTANT
• PAYROLL MANAGEMENT AND PROCESSING.
• CASH RECEIPTS.
• CASH RECEIPTS RECONCILIATION WITH DEVELOPMENT.
• GRANTS AND RESEARCH.
• FIXED ASSETS AND DEPRECIATION.
• BUDGETING
• BANK RECONCILIATIONS.
• INVESTMENT POSTING.
• REPORTS TO THIRD PARTIES- BUILD NYC AND US BANK.
• HEAD OF SCHOOL- DEFERRED COMPENSATION MANAGEMENT-WHEN APPLICABLE • REVIEW TIAA CONTRIBUTIONS.
• AUDIT- ASSIST WITH AUDIT SCHEDULES AND AUDIT DOCUMENT REQUESTS.
• AD HOC ASSIGNMENTS AS THEY ARISE.
• AUDIT EXPERIENCE.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
• BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN ACCOUNTING. CPA OR MBA PREFERRED.
• 4+ YEARS OF PROGRESSIVE ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE WITH A PORTION OF IT BEING IN A SUPERVISORY ROLE.
• THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE OF NONPROFIT FUND ACCOUNTING.
• EXCELLENT VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION ABILITIES ACROSS ALL LEVEL OF AN ORGANIZATION. • STRONG LEADERSHIP SKILLS WITH A DEDICATION TO DRIVING AND ACHIEVING RESULTS. • KNOWLEDGE OF EMPLOYEE RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES.
• ADVANCED MICROSOFT EXCEL SKILLS. EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER FINANCIAL SYSTEMS.
