    JOB DESCRIPTION

    This leading Mechanical Contracting Company provides HVACR, Plumbing, Controls, and Fire/Security system installation and services, specializing in support to the Biotech, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical, Hospitality, Health, and Education markets. We are currently seeking 2 HVACR Estimators for our Commercial Construction and Design/Build departments.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent job experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in Commercial and Applied HVAC construction estimating.
    • Demonstrated ability to estimate projects to $6 Million profitably.
    • Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings.
    • Experience bidding HVAC and refrigeration systems.
    • Knowledge of PTAC, SPAC, Unitary, Applied (Chillers), Boilers, Industrial applications, and refrigeration systems as well as sheet metal ducts, HVAC piping, and VRV applications.
    • Working knowledge of systems from the HVAC majors (Carrier, Trane, JCI, Daiken) and refrigeration companies (Hussman, Hill-Phoenix) is desired.
    • Experienced with complex project schedules, reading specification, takeoffs, value engineering, competitive purchasing, and subcontracting.
    • Demonstrated ability with commercial estimating software (QuickPen preferred).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide a competitive bid for an HVACR Bid/Spec situation or assist with the design and costing of an HVACR application as part of a Design/Build package; while meeting financial hurdle constraints.
    • Determine manpower requirements (union environment) to meet project schedules.
    • Determine HVACR material and equipment requirements to meet project requirements.
    • Ensure materials, equipment, and personnel required for all tasks meet the critical path requirements of the customer.
    • Obtain Subcontractor quotes for areas where will not self-perform work.
    • Obtain competitive equipment and material quotes.
    • Identify opportunities to utilize the Sheet Metal Shop, the Weld Shop, and Crane service, to reduce project cost or improve on the project schedule.
    • Identify Safety plans; permit requirements; bonding requirements and include in the bid.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce cost, minimize risk, or improve schedules. Maintain and surpass project profitability requirements.
    • Attend De-Scope meeting and represent with the customer.
    • Ensure all and GC policies and procedures are accounted for in the Bid Process. (Safety; etc.).
    • Ensure all Bid Documents are complete; Review bids with management.
    • Chair a project turn-over meeting with Project Managers after successfully winning a Bid.
    • Ensure all project bidding information is maintained in job folders.
    • Manage time to be able to bid multiple projects simultaneously.

    COMPETENCIES

    • Experience with LEEDS, or Clean Tech (Dehumidification, solar, Co-Gen, etc.) is a plus.
    • Must be experienced with complex project schedules, reading specification, takeoffs, value engineering, competitive purchasing, and subcontracting.
    • Demonstrated ability with commercial estimating software (QuickPen preferred). Knowledge of Sage 300 (Timberline) is a plus. Knowledge of HVAC load estimating software is valuable for the Design/Build slot.
    • Computer Proficiency is required, including Outlook and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and the ability to work remotely via laptop, iPad, or iPhone.
    • A background in Project Management is a strong plus.
    • A background with Salesforce.com is a plus, as is experience with other cloud-based project management applications.
    • Strong presentation skills and the ability to work closely with customers and GC's during de-Scope meetings, and with project managers during turnover meetings.
    • Knowledge of plumbing, HVAC controls, BAS systems, and fire suppression systems is a plus.
    • Knowledge of Sage 300 (Timberline) is a plus.
