    CAD Drafter & CNC Programmer (Stone Fabrication)

    About the Opportunity

    Join a high-capacity countertop fabrication firm specializing in custom stone surfaces for residential and commercial projects. Our facility utilizes advanced technology to deliver precision-engineered products to a demanding market.

    We are seeking a technical CAD Drafter & CNC Programmer to manage the transition from field data to finished product. This role is responsible for ensuring that all shop drawings are accurate and that CNC toolpaths are optimized for maximum efficiency and material yield. You will serve as a central technical resource for our production and installation departments.

    Core Responsibilities

    Technical Drafting: Generate and modify detailed countertop shop drawings using AutoCAD.

    CNC Programming: Utilize Alphacam to program CNC equipment for precise cutting, edging, and polishing.

    Data Verification: Review field measurements and digital templates to ensure drawings align perfectly with job site specifications.

    Material Optimization: Plan and optimize slab layouts to ensure high aesthetic quality and minimize material waste.

    Production Support: Prepare all production-ready files and maintain clear documentation for the fabrication and installation teams.

    Cross-Team Communication: Coordinate with templaters and shop leads to resolve layout or technical issues prior to fabrication.

    Qualifications

    Software Proficiency: Professional experience with CAD software (AutoCAD or industry-specific programs such as Slabsmith, Alphacam, Moraware, etc.) and Microsoft Office

    Industry Experience: Background in stone fabrication or a related manufacturing field is highly preferred.

    Technical Skills: Experience programming CNC machinery; proficiency in Alphacam, Slabsmith, or Moraware is a significant plus.

    Blueprint Reading: Ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings and blueprints.

    Detail Orientation: High level of accuracy in data entry and spatial layout.

    Communication: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-department team.

    Preferred Skills

    Familiarity with digital templating hardware and software.

    Knowledge of various stones and engineered surfaces (Granite, Quartz, Marble and solid surface materials).

    Ability to troubleshoot and refine CNC toolpaths and logic.
