    CALSTART has an immediate 3- month paid internship opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Trucks Initiative. This position will support the Trucks team and report directly to the Deputy Director of Trucks. Our intern will play an important role in identifying charger reliability standards, protocols, and best practices used in the light-duty passenger car space that can be utilized in the medium- and heavy-duty space.

    The Charger Reliability Intern will...

    • Conduct searches of public records for infrastructure articles, reports, research papers, and incentive program requirements.
    • Interview key fleet stakeholders about their charger reliability experience to date.
    • Identify charger reliability standards, protocols, and best practices used in the light-duty passenger car space and the feasibility and ease with which the commercial vehicle market might adopt similar standards.
    • Draft guidance for charge point operators on product and service offerings for commercial truck fleets.
    • Provide guidance for trucking fleets regarding special considerations for selecting and contracting with charging providers, including those offering hardware, networking capabilities, and/or maintenance packages.
    • Draft guidance for policymakers on charger reliability requirements for projects that receive federal, state, or local incentive funding.
    • Develop strategies for research dissemination and stakeholder engagement.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Completed at least three years of accredited college/university level coursework pursuing a bachelor's degree in communication, urban studies, transportation planning, public policy, sustainability, engineering, business development, or other related fields.

    • Self-driven and motivated individual that is passionate about clean transportation and research.

    • Strong writing skills and an ability to communicate technical information in a clear and accessible manner.

    • Experienced in research and report writing with the ability to search through directions, summarize findings, and assist managers with presentational materials.

    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and task management abilities.

    • Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and audiences.

    • Ability to work independently in a remote work environment.

    • Familiarity with emerging trends in zero-emission transportation infrastructure and/or vehicles.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and PowerPoint
      (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

    • Minimum commitment of 10 hrs/week

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE)
    • Knowledge of the trucking industry
