Responsible for entering payroll adjustments, reviewing various reports, editing payroll system and auditing payroll records through each payroll cycle. Ensure compliance with all applicable state ( Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico) and Federal wage and hour laws. Act as liaison with ADP outside payroll vendor for accurate and timely payroll processing, problem resolution and error corrections.
Essential Functions:
Compile payroll data such as garnishments, leave time, insurances and 401(k) deductions as required.
Work with HR Dept. on any required retroactive pay changes, accelerated final pay for terminated employees, stop payments/ reversals, uncashed checks, or other special circumstances, and liaison with payroll vendor as needed for issue closure.
Receive info from electronic time clock process and review downloaded information for completeness and accuracy.
Effectively communicates with supervisors and managers to secure timely timecard and payroll approvals.
Compile and record employee time and payroll data.
May compute employees' time worked, production and bonus (if applicable).
Will compute and post wages and deductions, void checks and prepare manual/off cycle checks/direct deposits/pay cards as appropriate.
Responsible for weekly transfer of payroll data to payroll vendor on behalf of Cal’s
Process all journal entries related to payroll.
Responsible for effective communication with vendor on annual w2 reporting/forms processing
Compile internal management reports from payroll system software.
Maintain orderly records in compliance with state and federal record retention laws.
Process employment verifications in a timely manner thru use of vendor software, liaisons for special needs/requests as they arise.
Position works in conjunction with human resources to address payroll related matters and may also be assigned A/P and/or Travel & Expense System duties and/or special projects in the regular course of business.
Education/experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience is required.
Skills: MS Office Suite – Intermediate Excel skills needed; Prior ADP Workforce Now experience helpful/desirable. Prior experience in retail environment helpful. Must become proficient with vendor software that is utilized in the position.
