    Job Description

    WHO WE ARE: CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive.  We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 160 integrated programs in:  Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 65,000 individuals and families each year at our 90 locations, including 10,000 youth.  CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.  

     

    EDUCATION & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS are funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and other funders and serve over 5,993 youth in grades K-12, and adults. This position will work closely with CAMBA's:

    COMPASS & SONYC AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS: serving children at elementary and middle schools throughout Brooklyn. They participate in program activities (such as homework help, conflict resolution, academic enrichment, recreation and creative arts programming) during after school hours, some school holidays and summer break.

    BEACON COMMUNITY CENTERS & CORNERSTONE PROGRAMS: serving children in elementary and middle schools; at 4 school based Beacon community centers and 9 Community Centers across Brooklyn. Centers are run in partnership with other community organizations to provide education, recreation, cultural activities, health information and screenings to the school's students, their families, and other neighborhood residents.

    POSITION: OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

    REPORTS TO: VICE-PRESIDENT

    LOCATION: 885 FLATBUSH AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NY 11226

     

    WHAT THE OPERATIONS COORDINATOR DOES:

    The person filling this position is expected to ensure the smooth running, administration, and coordination of all project services on a day-to-day basis, in order to ensure that all project/program goals, targets, and performance outcomes are met on a project cycle basis; including the following:

    • Act as a liaison between CAMBA’s Human Resources Department and managerial staff/site staff regarding status updates for new-hires.
    • Maintain Purchase and Payment Request tracking system to ensure programs are receiving checks and items in a timely manner.
    • Craft email messages and visuals that showcase program highlights for stakeholders.
    • Collect Program pictures and highlights in CAMBA Youth Newsletter template and prepare for distribution.

     

    MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) and two years of applicable experience and/or equivalent experience.

     

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    • Experience and proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Google Docs and other data systems.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends for scheduled hiring events.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across departments.
    • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines.
