Estimator – Construction Company – South Florida
We are a construction company providing both residential and commercial services. Currently, they have an opening for Estimator reporting to the Vice President of the Company and responsible for the overall estimating of projects assigned. The successful candidate will facilitate profitability for the Company by insuring completeness of all estimates as per plans and evaluate all subcontractor and supplier bids for their timeliness and accuracy.
General Responsibilities
· Reviews project specifications/plans and gathers all pertinent information and requirements.
· Studies project specifications/plans and other pertinent information and requirements; and identifies and projects costs for each component.
· Prepares final estimates on Excel spreadsheet.
· Interfaces and communicates with designers, architects, and engineers. Prepares documents in Word.
· Utilizes knowledge to determine materials needed and to identify most cost-effective vendors ensuring quality standards are maintained.
· Uses Primavera for project scheduling
· Interfaces and communicates with contractors, coordinating their efforts and assessing their overall performance.
· Follows up to control costs of projects and keeping projects on time and on track. Resolves cost discrepancies.
· Carries out miscellaneous office responsibilities phone, copying plans, downloading files, etc.; and completes other tasks as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/relevant training/experience plus at least 5 years of pertinent estimating experience.
Above average knowledge of construction practices and trades
Familiarity with budgets, schedules, and general accounting procedures
Computer literate with Word, Excel, email, and other tools used for communication and presentation purposes
Ability to communicate effectively and to be comfortable in front of groups
Must have a “can do” type attitude with the ability to solve problems and to change courses, if needed
Team-oriented and capable of working effectively with a wide variety of people.
