Job Description
Essential Duties:
• Develop relationships with young people and their families to support participant compliance of in-person contacts twice weekly and weekly phone calls
• Support young people in the adherence to obligations set forth by their mandate from court
• Plan activities to attend with participants after school and school breaks
• Create relationships with Education staff from schools young people attend to support their educational success including monitoring school attendance
• Partner with young people to establish goals short and long term
• Be accessible to young people outside of program hours in case of crisis
• Facilitate groups as needed
• Daily documentation of contacts/efforts
• Connect youth to positive activities in their communities and verify their attendance and participation;
• Work closely with families to engage them in the development of goal plans and aftercare plans;
• Administer assessment tools as needed including mental health, risk, and educational assessments to assist in the development of youth goal plans;
Secondary Duties:
• Engage in a weekly team and individual supervision meetings led by supervisor
• Adhere to ACS-mandated onboarding core trainings and annual training requirements
Qualifications
• At least 2 years' experience working with young people
• Desire to learn from youth;
• Commitment to youth engagement through collaboration with youth and their families;
• Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate youth
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; but not required;
• Positive attitude and excellent problem-solving skills;
• Trained in or committed to training to become competent in trauma informed approaches as a means of engaging young people;
• Experience developing relationships with schools, community-based organizations and/or other youth service providers;
• Schedule flexibility: General hours are 10am-6pm, but some activities require us to start earlier or end later.
