    CASES is looking for a Corporate Compliance Officer to set the strategic direction for agency-wide compliance and quality assurance with the goal of anticipating and mitigating risk and improving processes and outcomes.

    What Will You Do?

    • Develop, initiate, maintain, and revise policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Manage day-to-day operation of the Program.
    • Develop and periodically reviews and updates Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.
    • Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations.
    • Act as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance Issues/concerns and incidents within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
    • Monitor, and as necessary, coordinate compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends.
    • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
    • Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Compliance Committee of the Board and senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
    • Ensure proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
    • Establish and provide direction and management of the compliance Hotline.
    • Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including promoting (a) use of the Compliance Hotline; (b) heightened awareness of Standards of Conduct, and (c) understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures.
    • Develop and implements an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees, as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR part 2, 14NYCRR and other applicable SUD and HIV privacy regulations.
    • Establish a system for responding to and correcting potential compliance problems, reducing potential for recurrence, and reporting issues to required partners.
    • Complete annual mandated self and risk assessments.
    • Coordinate and run the CASES Incident Review Committees for Behavioral Health Programs and non-licensed programs, reports on incidents/meetings to the Governing Body;
    • Serve as Internal Justice Center Investigator and internal investigator for non-licensed program incidents;
    • Manage the Quality Assurance team and sets goals and strategic direction.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ degree in social work, healthcare, criminal justice, public administration or related field required.  Master’s degree is a plus;
    • CHC or CHPC certification a plus;
    • Ten or more years of progressive experience in compliance roles;
    • Prior experience in a healthcare or social service non-profit setting required;
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing people;
    • Good knowledge of legal requirements, procedures and compliance regulations including, but not limited to Part 521, HIPAA, 42 CFR part 2, 14NYCRR and other applicable regulations;
    • Demonstrated acuity in integrity and professional ethics; and
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
