    Overview:

    CCS Green is currently recruiting on behalf of a Cannabis client for the role of:

    Lab Analyst – HPLC                    Location of Work: Kelowna, British Columbia.

    This role is for an analytical chemist who has routinely used HPLC-DAD for routine analysis of clients’ samples. It requires strong background in analytical chemistry and chromatography. This is a position in Analytical laboratory for routine analysis of cannabinoids in cannabis products. This position is given directions by the Lab Director.

     What you will be doing

    • Prepare clients samples, calibration standards, spiking cannabis matrices, recovery standards and quality control (QC) samples for routine HPLC-DAD analysis
    • Perform samples analysis and interpret HPLC-DAD data using a combination of Thermo Scientific’ Chromeleon Software and Microsoft Excel
    • Maintain QC records and perform quality review of data to guarantee the accuracy and integrity of the results and to ensure that the generated data is defensible
    • Use Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) system to record and document analytical activities and results during the processing of samples
    • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation such as Liquid Chromatography systems and other instrumentation as required
    • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure quality control criteria are met and maintain documentation required for compliance
    • Validate (or verify) new HPLC-DAD methods when needed
    • Assist in maintaining the laboratory ISO 17025:2017 standards, CALA accreditation, proficiency testing (PT) programs, GLP regulations and participate, when requested, in internal and external audits
    • Ensure that HPLC-DAD system is functional and calibrated by conducting regular checks on statistical quality control charts and that all quality standards were performed within the required timeframe and the control charts are updated
    • Develop and maintain a positive work environment for lab staff. Support and comply with all the company policies, Quality System and Health & Safety programs
    • Ensure that deadlines/turn-around time (TATs) are met. Communicate any issues affecting TATs, quality etc. with Lab Supervisor or Lab Director in a timely fashion
    • Recommend SOP revisions, help develop work instructions, and provide input to corrective action procedures
    • Be proactive in ensuring that consumable supplies used for routine HPLC-DAD samples analysis are available in the lab
    • Maintain communications with Lab Director or Lab Supervisor to ensure awareness of any deviations of required performance standards and makes recommendations for continued improvements within laboratory operations
    • Other duties as assigned by Lab Director

     Who you are:

    • BSc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field and a minimum of 3-4 years of experience (in the last 4 years) in using HPLC-DAD technology for routine analysis of cannabis, food or environmental samples
    • Familiarity with Thermo Scientific HPLC-DAD technology and related Chromeleon software’s is considered a big asset
    • Experience with samples preparation and cleanup techniques that are required for cannabis products for routine analysis of cannabinoids is an asset
    • Ability to work independently and accurately test large numbers of clients’ samples with a commitment to achieve reliable and good quality work and consistently meet client TATs requirements
    • Analytical problem-solving skills; working on issues of a diverse scope where analysis of data and results requires evaluation of identifiable factors
    • Experience with HPLC-DAD methods development and validation, writing test methods and SOP’s and competent in reviewing HPLC-DAD data
    • Knowledge and understanding of QA/QC procedures, ISO 17025:2017 standards, CALA accreditation and proficiency testing (PT) programs and GLP regulations is an asset
    • Track record of complying with all quality and regulatory policies and updating of all required SOP’s and quality records for equipment maintenance, testing, analysis and design of experiments, as needed
    • Computer proficiency skills with using Microsoft Office suite, including Office 365 and Outlook, Word and Excel, PowerPoint. Additional software programs are an asset
    • Deep knowledge of LIMS system to effectively manage samples and associated data and verify samples results
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment and growing laboratory
    • Successful completion of satisfactory criminal record check
