    Class A CDL Driver

    Independence Excavating is looking for a motivated Class A CDL Driver to join our team in Cleveland, OH. In this role you will have the opportunity to learn and grow within the organization. This position does require a Class A CDL with a clean driving record.

    A typical day looks like:

    • Ensures all daily pre trip and post trip inspections and paperwork is completed.
    • Follow the given route as scheduled under the direction of the traffic manager.
    • Prepare vehicle for operation, including clearing debris, snow, or other environmental or physical hazards from windows, roofs, hoods, etc.
    • Follow verbal and written instructions for routes or tasks.
    • Drive vehicles along designated and/or marked pathways, or as instructed by spotter.
    • Ensures vehicles and equipment are operated safely and efficiently on specified routes.
    • Monitors and ensures all load securement policies are being followed.
    • Access and operate various styles of vehicles and controls including pick-up trucks and semis.
    • Operate trailer hitches and ramps and place securements for equipment.
    • Responsible for general and specific safety practices, following company safety manual procedures, and cooperating with our safety representative in a positive pro-active manner.
    • Follow all state and Federal traffic and DOT laws rules/regulations.
    • Maintain positive company image in appearance, conduct, and communication.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Do you have what it takes?

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent, additional construction certifications/trainings preferred
    • Valid Class A driver's license required
    • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Report is required
    • 2+ years of verifiable experience with equipment is required
    • Hazmat endorsement with 5+ years' experience is preferred.
    • Familiarity with electronic logbooks is preferred
    • Must pass a background check and drug test
    • Skilled at driving large vehicles
    • Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor-trailer
    • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly,
    • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
    • Samsara experience preferred
