Qualifications
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 18+ years of age or older.
- Commercial Driver’s License A or B (CDL).
- Successfully complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, physical, and background check, which will include previous employment check, and motor vehicle record review.
- Must meet MVR requirements as described below.
- Drivers with less than 3 years of driving experience.
- Drivers without a valid license to legally operate a vehicle in the US.
- Drivers with A, B or C class CDLs with less than 3 years of driving experience, when the vehicle operated requires a CDL.
- Drivers with the following types* of violations:
- 1 or more Serious violations in the past 5 years.
- 2 or more Accidents violations in the past 3 years.
- 3 or more non-serious violations in the past 3 years.
- Unless local, Drivers must be willing to travel to the weather event location and stay for the duration of the event until released by VDOT. (Travel Time, Hotel paid for by DCS, and per-diem).
- Prior experience operating snowplows or snow removal equipment is a plus but not required.
- Must be available for in-person, 8-hour, mandatory snow training before the start of the season.
- Work is as needed: Determined by VDOT per winter weather event.
