    Job Title: CDL Driver Department: Operations Reports To: Operations Manager / Logistics Supervisor FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Position Summary

    The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of rental equipment to and from customer locations throughout the oilfield and construction industries. This position operates commercial vehicles and trailers to haul telehandlers, aerial work platforms (manlifts), light towers, generators, and other construction and surface rental equipment. The CDL Driver is also responsible for properly loading, securing, unloading, inspecting, and documenting equipment while providing exceptional customer service and maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety policies.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Safely transport rental equipment to and from customer locations.

    Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment using proper tie-down procedures and DOT cargo securement standards.

    Operate commercial trucks, flatbeds, step decks, lowboys, and trailers as assigned.

    Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.

    Complete daily driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs), trip documentation, mileage logs, and delivery paperwork.

    Verify equipment condition before loading and upon delivery or pickup.

    Obtain customer signatures and document any equipment damage or discrepancies.

    Assist customers with basic operational orientation during equipment delivery when needed.

    Communicate delivery schedules and route updates with dispatch and operations.

    Maintain cleanliness and appearance of company trucks and trailers.

    Follow all company safety policies, customer site requirements, and DOT regulations.

    Report accidents, traffic violations, equipment damage, or safety concerns immediately.

    Assist with yard organization, equipment staging, loading, and general operations during downtime.

    Perform minor maintenance and basic inspections on trucks, trailers, and transported equipment.

    Operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other loading equipment when qualified.

    Boom lifts

    Scissor lifts

    Light towers

    Portable generators

    Air compressors

    Skid steers

    Mini excavators

    Other construction and oilfield support equipment

    Required Qualifications

    Valid Class A CDL with current Medical Examiner’s Certificate.

    Clean driving record with the ability to meet company insurance requirements.

    Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience.

    Experience hauling heavy equipment or construction equipment preferred.

    Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service, and cargo securement requirements.

    Ability to safely load and unload equipment using ramps and trailers.

    Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment operating experience.

    Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience in the oilfield or equipment rental industry.

    Experience operating telehandlers, forklifts, aerial lifts, and construction equipment.

    OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

    NCCCO or other equipment certifications are a plus.

    TWIC card (preferred if applicable to customer locations).

    Strong attention to detail when inspecting equipment and completing documentation.

    Ability to safely maneuver commercial vehicles in tight industrial and customer locations.

    Physical Requirements

    Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

    Climb on and off trailers and equipment multiple times daily.

    Bend, kneel, crouch, and secure heavy chains, binders, and straps.

    Work outdoors in extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and dusty conditions.

    Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.

    Work Environment

    Outdoor work at customer locations, rental yards, and industrial job sites.

    Frequent travel throughout regional operating areas.

    Exposure to heavy equipment, moving vehicles, uneven terrain, and changing weather conditions.

    Overtime, weekends, and occasional after-hours deliveries may be required to support customer operations.
