General Purpose and Function:
The Math Teacher teaches grades K through 4 and is a collaborative member of the Math Cohort Team (Grades K-8). The successful candidate will cultivate an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that reaches every student based on their individual learning style and strengths. Using multiple teaching techniques, the Math Teacher engages students to progress in their proficiency of speaking/communicating, listening, reading, and writing, problem solving and math facts. The teacher creates a dynamic Math classroom that promotes critical thinking and learning skills and respects diverse perspectives.
Responsibilities :
Teaching Math
- To be able to teach Singapore Math.
- To ensure curricular alignment with best practices that include proficiency in Math facts, visualization of Math, seven step model drawing.
- To establish goals and innovative assessments based on school and national proficiency standards for the Math.
- To utilize effective teaching methods in the Math classroom that includes inter-disciplinary projects, real life applications and projects.
- To integrate technology as a powerful tool for learning in the language arts classroom, including use of Google tools for collaboration and communication
- To teach remote and hybrid students when necessary
- To build positive and meaningful relationships with students through instruction and community-wide activities
- To facilitate an engaging and student-centered learning experience
- To communicate effectively and proactively with parents regarding student performance
- To collaborate with other teachers across subject areas
- To work with the Founder, Principal, Curriculum teams, Grades 5-8 cohort teachers to construct curriculum maps and grade-level objectives and ensure their realization.
- To actively seek out professional development opportunities to enhance the teaching craft and remain current on best practices.
- To prepare students in MATH LEAGUE.
Teaching Science:
Using multiple teaching techniques, the objective of the Science Teacher is to engage students to progress in their proficiency of understanding, critical thinking, making connections to real life situations, interpreting, and creating spatial and visual representations.
- To deliver the Science curriculum for grades K through 4.
- To ensure curricular alignment horizontally and vertically and timely dissemination.
- To be able to measure student learning using formative and summative assessments based on school and national proficiency standards for Science.
- To utilize effective instructional methods that demonstrate learning in the Science classroom.
- To foster scientific thinking by engaging students in lab and hands on exercises.
- To integrate technology as a powerful tool for learning in the Science classroom, including use of Google tools for collaboration and communication
- To build positive and meaningful relationships with students through instruction and community-wide activities.
- To communicate effectively with students, cohorts, administration, and parents.
- To teach students the craft of scientific inquiry by maintaining lab manuals and recording observations and phenomena.
- To collaborate with other teachers across subject areas.
- To work with the Founder, Principal, and cohort teachers to construct curriculum maps and grade-level objectives.
- To actively seek out professional development opportunities to enhance the teaching craft and remain current on best practices.
- To prepare topics that foster Science Inquiry and towards the goals of Science Fair.
- To be diligent in the administrative aspects of being a teacher with respect to grading, record keeping and updating student management portal.
Other Duties
- To participate in House System, or other extra-curricular activities
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal of the School.
- To assist with other school-wide duties, including field trips and Adventure trips.
- To actively participate in Math and Science Department, Elementary School Committee’s, and Full Faculty meetings.
This is a full-time, exempt position. During the school year, the Math Teacher will be expected to be on campus from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additionally, presence and participation are expected during weekly faculty meetings on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Presence and participation is required before and after the school year for opening and closing weeks.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $40,343.00 - $45,000.00 per year
