    CLASS A DRIVER - TRUCK DRIVER

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Summary

    As a valued member of our team, you would collect and transport aggregate materials such as rock and sand to the Company’s plants as directed, ensuring full compliance with Company policies and procedures and with Federal, State and Local government laws and regulations. Our company participates in a program run through the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) named DL-170, which allows us to train drivers and issue a Commercial Driver License (CDL). Any hired candidate will start out at our training rate of pay until they successfully graduate from training. We pay for previous driving experience and on average, our drivers last year made $63-67,000.     Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

    Checks the plant telephone recording to ascertain work assignments and plant reporting times on a daily basis.

    Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle operational and safety checks on a daily basis.

    Enters work locations into GPS to ensure most accurate and time effective routes.

    Drives to assigned quarry to pick up aggregate materials as required.

    Pulls up next to ground storage to get vehicle loads, and to scale house to sign load tickets.

    Visually inspects trailers to check for the appropriate levels aggregates have been loaded onto them.

    Delivers assigned loads of aggregates to designated Company’s plants.

    Places his/her vehicle over a grizzly and manually operates valves to offload aggregates at assigned plants.

    Continuously checks to ensure the smooth offloading of aggregates at designated area.

    Complies with instructions provided by customer’s yard or other personnel.

    Collects and takes back to the plant any documentation on materials received and delivered.

    Repeats loading and offloading process as required, subject to assigned work schedule.

    Enters trips’ starting and ending times and meal breaks taken on driver’s log.

    Complies with state and federal vehicle codes and regulations, as well as Safety regulations.

    Communicates with appropriate personnel on any issues via cell phone.

    Reports and job-related accidents and/or injuries to designated plant and Corporate personnel.

    Washes off assigned vehicle at designated plant location

    Promptly reports any vehicle malfunctions from safety and operational standpoint

    Maintains accurate work and driving records

    Maintains a clean vehicle, always cleaning it while on duty, on company time

    Attends Safety and other training meetings as required

    • Maintains clean, functional vehicle, ability to meet daily deadlines.

    Education/Experience

    -California Class A permit with doubles/triples endorsements

    -The ability to undergo and complete our Company’s driver training program

    -The ability to drive a manual 10-speed transmission truck

    Experience as a Class A driver is preferred but not required

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to read, write and speak English.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to add and subtract as well as to multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

    Reasoning Ability

    Uses critical thinking skills to interpret information furnished in written, oral or schedule form. Makes sound decisions based on available information and evaluates situations and requirements to plan and adjust work accordingly.

    Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision; able to make decisions about the severity of variable situations and evaluate the most appropriate response; able to make appropriate decisions related to environmental conditions and customer requests.

    Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

    California Class A permit with doubles/triples endorsements. Candidate cannot have any DUI/DWI convictions within the past 5 years.

    Candidates that get called in for a face-to-face interview will need to provide a K-4 DMV printout

    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    • Individual must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

    Cement Powder Driver:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for extended periods of time.

    • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

    • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear.

    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including lifting and pulling material hoses up to 10 feet.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    • Individual must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
