Orlando Avenue Surgery Center (OASC) is a state-of-the-art surgery center located in Winter Park, FL. OASC is a multi-specialty surgery center with a focus on women's health. We have an immediate opening for a part-time/PRN PACU RN. This is an exciting and challenging position with a surgery center that continues to grow.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Responsible for performing direct patient care preoperatively and postoperatively
- Assessing, documenting and managing postoperative pain
- Must demonstrate ability to assess airway adequacy and intervene quickly and appropriately when necessary
- Must demonstrate proficiency with cardiac monitoring and interpretation
- Must demonstrate understanding and knowledge of all phases of recovery nursing principles and expectations
- Demonstrates necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role of the peri-operative nurse in accordance with AORN and other regulatory standards of practice.
- Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and has the ability to oversee the instrument and equipment set-up, prepare for the case utilizing preference cards, and anticipates needs of surgeon.
- Coordinates and oversees the room during a case as the circulator.
- Facilitates effective and efficient transition between surgical procedures.
- Utilizes preference cards and updates as necessary.
- Demonstrates knowledge of management of patient, including: being available to anesthesia during intubation and extubation, assisting as needed in sudden changes in patient condition and being readily available to assist as directed.
- Performs thorough patient interview and assessment in accordance with procedure and assures an appropriate, detailed time out process is done according to policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a PACU setting; preferably in an ambulatory surgery center with Plastics, GYN and/or Laparoscopic procedures knowledge.
- Active RN license in state of FL
- Valid ACLS & BLS Certification Required
