    Job Description

    Job Description Summary: CES is looking for reliable, detail-oriented individuals to perform non-confrontational compliance checks on local tobacco retailers to ensure the sale of tobacco products to youth is restricted. The inspection is used to establish a retailer's compliance with Federal Synar requirement of the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) regulations in coordination with Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Maine Office of the Attorney General. Inspections are coordinated with an experienced adult Agents (Inspectors) with current or prior law enforcement related experience. Interns are transported by Supervisors (Chaperones) to and from the Interns residence and to all tobacco retail establishments within an assigned route. This work is conducted on a part-time, case-volume basis with flexibility relevant to individual and team schedules. Duties/Responsibilities: * Identify and verify site address provided * Physically enter the premises of a tobacco retailer and attempt the purchase of a tobacco product. * If purchase is made, Intern will turn over the product as evidence to the Agent per program protocol. * Intern will not deceive the retailer in any way * Cooperate with OAG in preparing cases resulting from violations Required qualifications/skills: * Must be 18-20 years old * Attention to detail * Strict adherence to program confidentiality requirements Preferred qualifications/skills: * N/A Physical Requirements: * Physically enter the premises of a tobacco retailer and attempt the purchase of a tobacco product Other: * Young Adult Interns will use valid identification and will not lie about their age * Interns will complete all required training sessions: initial training, annual refreshers, ad-hoc * Must be able to undergo a background check meeting contract standards through Maine OAG Company Description Accomplished small business specializing in fighting fraud, waste, and abuse in government entitlement programs.
