    Location: Williamsburg, VA Employment Type: FullTime | Government Contract Support

    The Maintenance Mechanic – HVAC provides installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair support for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in support of Expeditionary Medical Systems (EXMEDS) operations. This position supports facility readiness and operational continuity by ensuring HVAC systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably within warehouse, maintenance, and support spaces.

    The HVAC Maintenance Mechanic works independently and in coordination with maintenance and operations personnel to ensure climate-controlled environments support equipment storage, personnel safety, and mission requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform preventative maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems and associated components
    • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues affecting heating, cooling, ventilation, and air handling systems
    • Service and replace HVAC components, including motors, compressors, fans, belts, filters, controls, and refrigerant lines
    • Support installation or modification of HVAC equipment as required to maintain system performance
    • Monitor system operation to identify potential performance or reliability issues
    • Maintain awareness of system condition and support timely corrective actions
    • Use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to support maintenance activities
    • Maintain accountability of tools, equipment, and materials used during maintenance
    • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with applicable safety practices
    • Coordinate informally with maintenance, warehouse, and operations personnel to support facility availability

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing HVAC maintenance and repair in a commercial, industrial, or government facility environment
    • Demonstrated experience with mechanical and electrical HVAC systems

    Required Certifications & Licenses

    • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification for recovery and handling of refrigerants

    Security Requirements Valid Driver’s License; All NMRLC contractor employees must be U.S. citizens and maintain a favorable federal suitability determination (typically NACI with SF‑85/SF‑85P) sufficient to obtain and retain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC) for installation, system, and facility access. Continued eligibility is required throughout contract performance, and loss of CAC or suitability status may result in removal from the contract.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience supporting HVAC systems in warehouse, industrial, or logistics facilities
    • Prior exposure to government or DoD operational environments

    Preferred Skills

    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Attention to detail in maintenance execution and system monitoring
    • Ability to work independently while supporting broader facility operations
    • Effective coordination with maintenance and operations teams
    • Working knowledge of safety practices applicable to HVAC and mechanical maintenance environments
