    THE LOCATION FOR THIS POSITION IS FULLY REMOTE.  CANDIDATES CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES.  

    Position Overview:

    Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Finance is a critical role that will work closely with the board of directors and other senior leaders to support the next phase of business growth and maturity for CG Spectrum.  The VP of Finance is an executive leader with a strategic mindset and sophisticated financial management skills who will oversee all financial matters for the organization globally - from ensuring that payroll is finished on time to analyzing market trends to making tactical and judicious recommendations to the broader executive team in order to inform organizational decision-making. 

    This VP is not only responsible for processing the financial activities of the organization in order to maximize the company's profits and plan for its growth, but they will also be responsible for advancing each department's goals and objectives through accurate and timely financial planning and analysis, sound reporting, policy-making, and documenting best practices and internal communication.  Activities may include budgeting, accounting, contracting and procurement, fiscal monitoring, capital management, modeling and analysis; as well as designing and implementing new policies and procedures consistent with the organization's strategic plan.  

    With a hands-on approach to all aspects of CG Spectrum's finances, the VP of Finance must also ensure the company complies with tax laws and regulations specific to the education industry, and to be a visible and well-respected leader to the entire organization.

    Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a pro-active member of the CG Spectrum senior leadership team with overall responsibility for managing the company's finances.
    • Oversee all aspects of the company's accounting operations, including payroll, treasury and tax preparation.
    • Lead financial management and reporting activities, including, but not limited to:
      • Financial Analysis and Reporting (daily, weekly, monthly and annual reporting, profitability, KPI analysis);
      • Reporting and analysis on business unit and product level unit economics and profitability;
      • Preparation of annual budgets and updating 3 year financial forecasts;
      • Management of financial targets as established in the yearly budgets and strategic planning documents approved by the Board;
      • Informing and managing headcount planning and staffing modeling for the entire organization;
      • Course scheduling optimization analysis;
      • General accounting activities (AP/AR/statutory payments etc);
      • Cash flow and cost management;
      • Board reporting;
      • Client and/or contract feasibility analysis; reviewing proposals, budgets and providing financial management of vendors;
      • Internal controls environment and risk management.
    • Own capital management – advising on return on capital employed and return on equity.
    • Participate in strategy development, adding thoughtful input into the development and implementation of CG Spectrum's strategic plans.
    • Perform company secretarial duties, including managing all aspects of the company secretary requirements, ensuring strict adherence to all relevant laws as well as to the Shareholders Deed.
    • Develop and manage effective relationships with key stakeholders such as local banks and lenders, government (ex: FEE Help in Australia), company shareholders, board members, key suppliers, etc.
    • Create organizational design for the finance department, identifying key roles required as the business grows; hire, train, and manage finance staff to peak performance.

      

    Key Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field; CPA, CFA, and/or MBA is a plus.  
    • 10+ years of senior finance experience across multiple areas; 5+ years of managerial experience.
    • Proven analytical skills complimenting a data driven mindset and attention to detail
    • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and manage effectively at all levels of the organization
    • Strong stakeholder management
    • Comfort with risk management and scenario planning
    • Work experience in the higher education, vocational, or edtech industries is a plus
    • Global experience managing multiple currencies (particularly experience with Australian dollars) and familiarity with IFRS accounting rules are a plus
