OPEN POSITION: Senior Software Engineer

SCHEDULE:

COMPENSATION:

• $120,000 to $150,000+ Base Salary, negotiable dependent upon experience

LOCATION:

• 80% remote / work from home
• 20% in Mokena, Illinois office

This position will work flexibly and largely remotely, with in-person visits to the office in Mokena scheduled as-needed for on-site work and executive team meetings. Candidates must be within a reasonable driving distance of Mokena.

COMPANY PROFILE: This family-owned-and-operated private practice is a pediatric organization offering a variety of therapy and counseling services. They’ve been in business for more than 25 years and have 20+ locations and 550 employees throughout the Chicagoland area.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is a newly-created position and the goal of the Senior Software Engineer will be to redefine the purpose of the practice’s electronic medical record (EMR) by centering functionality around advanced outcomes tracking and eliminating the tedium of medical office tasks that remain a primary source of clinician burnout.

The practice has already developed internal technology tools that enhance clinical processes, eliminate burnout-inducing tasks, and improve patient experiences. They are now preparing to formalize these internally-validated tools for broader use.

The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with the CEO and external tech team to take these projects to the next level. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• work directly with the CEO and development team
• design and launch a large-scale Ruby on Rails application
• contribute to development and enhancement of existing Ruby on Rails web tools
• modify software to fix errors, improve performance, and upgrade interfaces
• direct system testing and validation procedures
• direct software programming and documentation development
• collaborate with development teams on product roadmaps and implementation of features
• work on technical issues, such as software system design and maintenance
• recommend and plan installation of new systems or modifications of existing systems

This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will oversee external vendor teams.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ years software development experience
• previous healthcare industry experience strongly preferred
• excellent communication skills
