The Position:
The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for leading sourcing initiatives and the processes to select and manage strategic providers. This role will administer contractual agreements with outside vendors that provide services, to include the negotiation of contracts and contract amendments. Collaborate with leadership to provide the best service offering with compelling value that delivers on the company’s strategic initiatives.
Primary Objectives:
Directly negotiate business terms with vendors in support of the company’s strategic partnerships
Collaborate with leadership to provide the best service offering with compelling value that delivers on the company’s strategic initiatives
Act as the procurement liaison to ensure the company’s sourcing needs are met
Core Duties/Responsibilities (includes but not limited to):
Own, develop, manage and execute programs for all assigned sourcing services
Prepare strategic plans and manage the planning of RFIs and RFPs as contracts expire
Competitively bid and negotiate purchase requests to reduce overall acquisition costs
Prepare purchasing contracts in accordance with the approved policies and procedures, ensuring that such commitments are within budget
Manage vendor selection and negotiation processes to ensure the needs of the company are being met
Establish and maintain contractual and business relationships with vendors
Monitor contract compliance and adjust sourcing strategies based on changing business needs
Work collaboratively with internal partners and suppliers to quantify requirements, timing and scope to fully manage supply chains in assigned categories
Create secondary supply strategies for critical products and services and lead identification and development of long-term alternate sources
Evaluate suppliers based on qualitative and quantitative data gathered regarding performance, quality, competitive pricing and service level metrics, and review this data with the suppliers to establish goals
Perform fact-based analysis to allow for objective decision making, including total cost of ownership (TCO) opportunities
Lead, guide and assist with details on specifications, service level agreements (SLAs,) Statement of Work (SOW,) deliveries and costs of goods
Challenge team to consider additional cost effective strategies
Lead the competitive bid process and negotiation strategy development, and conduct negotiations with suppliers
Negotiate contract terms for master service agreements (MSA), schedules and amendments in conjunction with the team
Oversee the supplier qualification process
Lead supplier on-boarding activities, training and coordination for all new suppliers
Develop an understanding of future business objectives in order to design and implement consistent and efficient processes and systems for the acquisition of professional services
Overnight domestic travel may be required
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Business, Supply Chain, or Procurement, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for a degree
7 to 10 years progressively responsible procurement and supplier management experience and a demonstrated track record in successfully developing, negotiating and managing multimillion dollar, complex contracts
Advanced experience developing moderately complex cost and financial models with financial accounting
Strong drive for continuous process and productivity improvement with experience in six sigma and lean initiatives
Advanced negotiation skills and ability to develop successful relationships with internal and external customers
Excellent communications skills with the proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others
Very strong and well developed experience sourcing goods and services
Must be able to demonstrate an advanced understanding of legal concepts and principles as they relate to: Confidentiality, Service, Investigator and Consulting agreements
Professional services sourcing experience is strongly preferred
