Medical Assistant - Pediatric Surgery Practice
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated BILINGUAL (Spanish speaking/writing/reading) Medical Assistant to join our pediatric surgery practice. In this role, you will provide crucial support to the physicians and staff members in delivering exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will encompass both administrative duties and hands-on patient care tasks.
Responsibilities:
1. Greet and check-in patients, ensuring accurate and up-to-date patient information is obtained.
2. Schedule appointments and diagnostic tests for patients.
3. Prepare and maintain patient charts, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
4. Assist the physician during patient examinations, surgical procedures, and minor surgeries.
5. Provide education and instructions to patients and their families regarding pre- and post-operative care.
6. Perform basic laboratory tests and collect specimens for analysis.
7. Administer medications as ordered by the physician and maintain accurate medication logs.
8. Assist with wound care, dressings, and suture/staple removal.
9. Perform routine office tasks, such as answering phones, filing, and maintaining inventory of medical supplies.
10. Ensure compliance with all medical practice policies and procedures, including infection control protocols.
11. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in coordinating patient care.
Requirements:
1. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification.
2. 2+ years of experience working in a pediatric surgery practice or related field.
3. Proficient in medical terminology and knowledge of surgical procedures specific to pediatrics.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
5. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
7. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
8. Knowledge of medical insurance billing and coding procedures.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
10. CPR certification (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent).
