    About the Role:

    Visionary Eye Institute Inc is looking for a motivated and experienced Clinic Lead to join our team in Newport Beach, CA.     Position Summary The Ophthalmic Clinic Lead provides both clinical and administrative leadership support for all Visionary Eye Institute (VEI) clinics and reports directly to the Practice Administrator. This role serves as the central point for coordinating patient flow, overseeing ophthalmic support staff, and ensuring efficient clinic operations with a strong emphasis on cataract surgery patient care and surgical readiness. The Ophthalmic Clinic Lead provides technical assistance to physicians, supports staff training and development, assists with workflow optimization, and serves as a resource for both clinical and administrative team members. This individual must demonstrate strong leadership, exceptional patient care skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced ophthalmology environment. Responsibilities  Oversee daily clinic flow and coordinate ophthalmic support staff to maximize efficiency and patient satisfaction  Support physicians with technical ophthalmic assistance during clinic sessions  Assist in the coordination and preparation of cataract surgery patients  Ensure accurate and timely patient workups, documentation, and testing  Train and onboard new clinical staff and providers on clinic workflows, protocols, and equipment  Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing coaching and support  Assist with implementation of clinical workflows, quality initiatives, and operational improvements  Serve as backup support for all clinical staff roles as needed  Triage patient concerns, respond to patient calls/messages, and assist with prescription refill requests in a timely manner  Ensure compliance with clinic policies, safety standards, and ophthalmic clinical protocols  Maintain and troubleshoot ophthalmic diagnostic equipment as needed  Assist with special projects and other duties delegated by leadership  Travel between VEI clinic locations as needed

    Required Qualifications  Minimum 5 years of recent experience in an ophthalmology practice providing technical ophthalmic support  Minimum 1–2 years of recent supervisory or leadership experience  Strong knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical workflows  Experience obtaining accurate medical histories and performing comprehensive ophthalmic workups  Proficiency with: o Visual acuity testing o Tonometry/applanation tonometry o Manifest refraction (MR) o Lensometry o Diagnostic testing and imaging  Experience operating ophthalmic equipment including: o OCT o Corneal Topography o Optos o Auto Refraction/Keratometry (A/R) o Humphrey Visual Field (HVF)  Experience supporting cataract evaluations and surgical workflows preferred  Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a high-volume clinic environment  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision  Ability to analyze clinical and administrative issues and determine appropriate solutions  Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel  Strong typing and documentation skills  Ability to learn and adapt to advanced ophthalmic diagnostic technologies  Professional, compassionate, and patient-centered demeanor  Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, staff, and patients Preferred Qualifications  Experience in a multi-provider ophthalmology practice  Experience with cataract surgery counseling and patient education  Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
