    Construction Project Manager

    Founded in 1996, CMES, Inc. is a rapidly growing, privately held Georgia-based civil construction company. We are seeking to add a Project Manager to our team to support our continued rapid growth within the utility industry. This role is a field-based position, located in Atlanta, Georgia, and will support the project management needs in the field. This position will work at multiple work site locations throughout the Greater Metro Atlanta, Area.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

    · Position will meet with VP/GM of Operations and Field Superintendent every day to discuss plan of the day to include: Job Costing, budget, etc.

    · Maintain a Project Log for vendor/supplier/subcontractor invoices, job costing reports, contract specification.

    · Review of the “Daily Work Report” turned in by the Superintendent to address and make plans for any remarkable issues therein the report.

    · Make follow-up calls daily for customer inquiries, vendors/clients, deliveries on supplies/materials

    · Ensuring our customer’s expectations are being met without fail.

    · Resolve customer issues regarding quality, delivery, or any other product performance issues as required to satisfy our customers.

    · Maintaining good vendor relations to ensure that proper operational performance can be achieved at all times

    · Report on-time completion standards to the VP/GM of Operations as required in meeting customer expectations at all times.

    · Maintaining exceptional communications throughout the company through the diligent use of company, production, and management meetings

    · Coordination of outside service vendors (other trades we might sub-contract, suppliers, etc.) in completing work for our customers.

    · Ensure quality standards and on-time job completion are consistently met by these vendors.

    · Position is responsible for communicating this information to the VP/GM of Operations, Project Field Coordinator, Purchasing/Procurement Manager and/or Field Superintendent as necessary.

    · Assist the Chief Estimator in preparing Estimates as required/requested for bid submittals

    · Assist in interviewing process to fill site production positions with qualified personnel.

    · Assist with conducting employee performance evaluations

    · Fairly and consistently apply Company and personnel policies

    · Help manage production labor/materials/supplies in a manner to minimize Company costs

    · If bid is awarded, put together a plan (schedule of events) and decide on what Field Superintendent and construction crew should be assigned to that particular job.

    · Coding a General Ledger list to be approved that the price quoted matches the price on the invoice and will note the job name/number on the invoice.

    · Keep up with projects to ensure timely close-outs. Complete the project close-outs and recommend when a project is ready for final billing to the Controller.

    · Work with Field Superintendent and keeps the VP/GM of Operations updated on project needs

    · Manage the change order process to ensure we are getting approvals prior to the work being performed

    · Ensure proper paperwork is filled out and submitted to other departments as deemed necessary

    · Research, recommend and execute measures to the VP/GM of Operations to improve production efficiency, product quality, and safety

    · Assist with the review of all operational, estimated, and contractual documents of projects awarded

    · Position will ensure that Safety Standards are met on ALL job sites as required

    · Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    The Candidate MUST HAVE previous experience working on highway / roadway civil and structural industrial construction projects with the following relevant experience:

    · Reviewing project drawings and specifications, identifying any discrepancies

    · Preparing job budgets and project schedules, list of required materials, and equipment and manpower requirements to complete the job as per job schedule and within budget

    · Working with an operations manager and/or project manager to recruit and hire a project team

    · Preparing engineering layout and filed survey

    · Implementing quality control, traffic control, and safety

    · Arranging pre-construction meetings with owners and architects

    · Overseeing daily construction activity of the projects, getting reports from the field superintendents, analyzing the reports, and making the necessary changes in manpower or equipment to complete the project within time and budget

    · Reporting any project delays or problems to higher authority and getting those problems resolved in the best interest of the project

    · Coordinating with the owner / customer and architect of the project and implementing their project requirements

    · Knowledge of related construction codes, standards, etc. Strong communication skills, both written and oral

    Special Requirement Skill

    Candidate must be willing to travel every day to job site locations for long term assignments

    Position will wear protective gear (Safety Glasses and Hard Hat, etc. as required) at all times while on job sites.Education and Experience

    A BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and a minimum of 4-5 years of practical experience or 10 years equivalent practical experience in a related position Communication Skills

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines

    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

    Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos

    Ability to write simple correspondence.

    Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

The position requires considerable bending, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling. Other tasks can require stooping, bending, squatting, stretching, driving. The employee will be regularly required to stand, talk and/or hear. The employee is required to use hands to type and write on a tablet

    Work Environment:

    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work in and around a highway or roadside construction area and heavy equipment. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving traffic and mechanical parts and equipment. Employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel and exhaust. Most work will be performed in a roadside / highway setting and employee will be exposed to ongoing traffic while working. Employee will work outdoors, and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold and rain.
