Job Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – Telemetry supports registered nurses and the healthcare team by providing direct patient care to individuals requiring continuous cardiac monitoring. The CNA assists with daily patient needs, monitors vital signs, and ensures patient comfort and safety in a fast-paced telemetry unit.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding, and mobility
Obtain and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, oxygen saturation) as assigned
Assist with application and maintenance of telemetry leads and report any abnormalities to nursing staff
Observe and report changes in patient condition, behavior, or cardiac rhythm to the RN promptly
Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and positioning using proper body mechanics
Perform basic patient care procedures such as specimen collection, intake/output monitoring, and blood glucose checks (if trained)
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment
Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests
Support admissions, discharges, and patient transport within the facility
Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines at all times
Document care provided accurately and timely per facility policy
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (state-specific)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA required
Minimum 2 year of acute care or hospital experience
Prior experience in Telemetry, Med-Surg, or Cardiac units
