CNC Set-Up Operator – Custom Machine Shop
Location: Rockford, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire or Temp-to-Hire
About the Company:
Join a close-knit, highly skilled team in a custom machine shop that specializes in short-run jobs (50–100 units) and precision machining for government and industrial clients. The shop is small but mighty, with a strong reputation for quality and versatility. Team members are expected to be adaptable, collaborative, and committed to doing what it takes to get the job done.
Responsibilities:
Set up 2–3 CNC jobs per day (Fanuc controls required, Prototrak helpful)
Write and edit G-code programs for custom parts
Plan materials, tools, and machine usage
Perform first article inspections and document FPQP/PPAP Level 3
Operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, and band saws
Assist with general shop tasks (coolant, cleaning, packaging)
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications:
3+ years CNC machining experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and gauges
Own machinist tools
Ability to lift/push 35 lbs
AutoCAD or CAM Experience
Strong work ethic and willingness to support the team in any capacity
U.S. citizenship and clean background (required for government contracts)
