JOB DESCRIPTION:
Join Baxter Aerospace and shape the future of firefighting with our Dragonfly autonomous aircraft, a groundbreaking vertical takeoff platform designed to clear the air—literally. Our mission is to combat wildfires with innovative, scalable technology, delivering real-time data and paving the way for autonomous water-dropping solutions that protect lives and landscapes.
We are looking for a CNC Lathe Programmer/Machinist who can both program and operate CNC machinery with precision and efficiency. This role requires proficiency in G-code, CNC programming software, and familiarity with automated manufacturing processes. You will play a key part in translating engineering designs into high-precision machined components that support mission-critical aerospace applications.
ABOUT OUR COMPANY:
At Baxter Aerospace, we are building a new way to fight forest fires in a digitally connected world. We are known for our innovation, precision, and commitment to quality. We foster a collaborative and fast-paced environment where excellence is both expected and rewarded.
We are looking for top-tier team members to join our mission in advancing satellite communication equipment used for critical missions like aerial firefighting, camera data transmission from aircraft, and deployed team coordination.

Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes based on 3D models, engineering drawings, and specifications.
Develop, edit, and debug G-code and CAM-generated toolpaths to achieve precise, efficient, and repeatable machining.
Use CNC programming software (e.g., Fusion 360, Mastercam) to generate NC code for both prototype and production runs.
Collaborate with design and engineering teams to evaluate manufacturability, refine part geometry, and implement design-for-manufacturing improvements.
Integrate machining logic to accommodate material properties, thermal behavior, and aerospace tolerance standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve programming and machine-related issues on the shop floor with minimal supervision.
Perform tool selection, fixture design, and setup planning for complex parts.
Conduct first-article inspections and verify part quality using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and CMM tools.
Maintain organized records of program versions, setup sheets, and tool libraries.
Support continuous improvement through tooling upgrades, cycle-time reduction, and lean practices.
SKILLS:
Proficiency in CNC programming software such as Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar.
Strong understanding of G-code and manual code optimization.
Experience with Fanuc controls and conversational programming.
Competency in blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation, and mechanical assembly concepts.
Familiarity with machining a variety of materials including aluminum, titanium, and engineering plastics.
Comfort working alongside engineers, technicians, and prototyping teams in a dynamic R&D environment.
Bonus: Experience programming components for aerospace or precision manufacturing.
Passion for our mission to revolutionize wildfire mitigation through autonomous aerospace technology.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a U.S. Person (Defined as: a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or an individual who has been granted asylum or refugee status, in accordance with U.S. export control regulations such as ITAR and EAR.)
