Job Summary
We are seeking a CNC Machinist I to support production operations in a machine shop environment. This position is responsible for independently operating CNC machines, making minor tool and offset adjustments, and ensuring parts meet quality and production standards. The CNC Machinist I works closely with a Lead Person or Supervisor for more complex adjustments and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC machines independently with minimal supervision
- Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements
- Monitor machine operation and inspect parts for conformance to specifications
- Perform visual inspections and use measuring devices to verify quality
- Set required offsets after basic tool setup is completed
- Interpret CNC programs including feeds, speeds, tooling, canned cycles, coolant use, and axis movements
- Stop production and escalate issues when quality concerns arise
- Perform preventive maintenance checks including fluid levels, system pressure, tooling wear, lubrication, and cleaning
- Accurately record production results at job completion or end of shift
- Properly tag and disposition scrap and move to designated areas
- Maintain housekeeping standards and follow 5S practices
- Meet production quotas and labor standards
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of machining experience or vocational machining education
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, including GD&T
- Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, percentages, and conversions
- Basic computer skills and ability to enter production data
- Strong attention to detail and quality
