A machinist operates computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, such as vertical, horizontal or manual lathes and milling machines, to cut and produce precision parts for machines, instruments, and tools.
Repair or produce parts using both manual and automated equipment with precise measurements
Ensure effective production operations and optimize procedures
Set up and use & adjustment of machines both automatic and manual to drill, mill, turn, bore, grind and shape steel parts
Examine and assess completed units to detect defects and ensure conformity with specification
Program and or verify programs for machines
Able to perform own set-ups
Knowledge of machine tooling and their proper speeds and feeds.
Responsible for cleaning your area
Understand customer requirements, and make sure they are met
Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
Experience as a machinist or machining inspection or Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred
Siemens 840D, G&L 8000 Controls
Must have experience reading detailed blue prints or drawings
Must be able to read and interpret tape measure, micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, bore gauges
Mechanical ability and knowledge of shop math, metal properties and mechanics and machining operations
Problem-solving skills
Ability to follow safety instructions, proper use of PPE and attend safety training and apply to their job position
