    Title: CNC Machinist

    Shift: 1st shift, 7:30am-4pm M-F, some flexibility on start time, no weekends

    Pay: $27-$35/hr (+/- depending on experience)

    Location: Barberton, OH

    CNC Machinist Role:

    Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CNC Mill and Lathe Operator to set up, operate, program editing and maintain Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling and lathe machines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications while ensuring quality standards and safety protocols are met. This role requires proficiency in operating both CNC mills and lathes, interpreting technical drawings, and using precision measuring instruments.

    CNC Machinist Responsibilities:

    • Set up and operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes for various jobs.
    • Load and unload parts, tools, and fixtures onto machines.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
    • Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials and operations.
    • Load CNC programs and perform necessary offsets and adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications.
    • Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust controls as needed.
    • Perform in-process quality inspections using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges).
    • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
    • Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and coolant management.
    • Troubleshoot minor machining issues and report complex problems to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
    • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and quality procedures.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S principles).
    About you:

     

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
    • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating both CNC Mills and CNC Lathes in a manufacturing environment.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Skilled in using various precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, indicators, etc.).
    • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, plastics).
    • Basic understanding of G-code and M-code; ability to perform minor edits or offsets at the controller.
    • Experience with Fanuc controllers is highly desirable.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Commitment to workplace safety.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Vocational/technical degree or apprenticeship in Machining or related field.
    • Experience with multi-axis machining (4 or 5-axis mills, live tooling lathes).
    • CNC programming skills.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment:

    • Ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
    • Requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
    • Work environment involves exposure to noise, coolants, oils, and metal shavings typical of a machine shop.
    • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
