    CNC Milling Machine Setup Operator
    Minneapolis, MN | | Direct Hire | $28 - $40/hour DOE

    Position Highlights

    • 4-Day Work Week: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Competitive Pay:
      $60,000 – $66,500 for standard CNC mill operators
      $68,500 – $82,000
      for candidates with 3+ years of advanced 5-axis CNC milling experience
    • Operate Modern CNC Equipment in a Clean, Organized Facility

    CNC Setup Operator – Responsibilities

    • Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including multi-axis (3, 4, and 5-axis) machining centers for complex precision components.
    • Read, interpret, and modify G and M code sequences for program adjustments and fine-tuning.
    • Select and install appropriate tooling, inserts, fixtures, and measurement devices for optimal machining performance.
    • Perform tool wear offsets and troubleshoot machine performance to ensure consistent part quality.
    • Conduct in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges to verify critical dimensions.
    • Maintain accurate production records and complete required job documentation.
    • Follow all safety protocols and ensure proper daily cleaning and light maintenance of machines.
    • Collaborate with production leadership to optimize machining processes and meet project deadlines.

    CNC Setup Operator – Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; a two-year technical degree in Machine Technology is a plus.
    • Standard Track: 2+ years of CNC machine setup and operation experience.
    • Advanced Track: 3+ years of experience operating and setting up 5-axis CNC milling machines.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, shop drawings, and production orders.
    • Strong knowledge of cutting tools, fixturing, precision measurement instruments, and machining best practices.
    • Solid mechanical aptitude, strong math skills, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and comply with all federal work authorization requirements.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, stooping, crouching, and reaching throughout the shift.
    • Frequent use of CNC equipment, hand tools, and precision measurement devices.
    • Exposure to airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and moderate to high noise levels in the production environment.
