    Position Summary:

    The CNC Programmer will provide programming, planning, and machining expertise in support of the Manufacturing Department and client requests.

    Essential Functions:

    Plans machining activities by analyzing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

    Develops CNC programs using Mastercam for 3-5 axis mills and multi axis Lathes based on engineering drawings and models

    Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs

    Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices

    Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes

    Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations

    Creates set-up sheets for all programs generated

    Assists engineering in prototyping by quickly and accurately proving out programs for their designs and notifying them of any design flaws or machine constraints

    Sequence automatic machine operations and select cutting tools

    Follow all safety guidelines as outlined in the company safety manual

    Determines proper Tooling and design fixtures/work holding components for machining on mills, and lathes

    Skills/Qualifications:

    High school diploma or equivalent, Associates Degree or certification in related field preferred

    3 – 5 years’ CNC Programming experience in a manufacturing environment

    3 – 5 years’ operating, troubleshooting, and set-up experience

    Experience with Mastercam or equivalent as well as fixture / tool design software

    Proficient understanding of G-Code and M-Code programming

    Ability to read and comprehend a variety of instructions and standard operating procedures

    Detailed knowledge of precision measuring equipment and the application of such instruments including but not limited to calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth gauges and indicators
