POSITION SUMMARY: Performs exact and precise set-ups of CNC computer controlled machines for maximum quality and productivity.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Works semi-independently, with minimal supervision.
Interpret drawing and specifications.
Work with extremely close tolerances and fine details.
Develop machine set-ups for maximum quality and productivity.
Recognize and make necessary corrections to questionable factors that concern Johanson quality.
Maintains operation of 4 – 5 machines, while keeping downtime to a minimum.
Utilize automatic bar feed units.
Use computer to develop machining programs for CNC use.
Capable of using all type measuring instruments (micrometer, vernier caliper, dial indicator).
Capable of making/maintaining own tooling, use/maintain tooling made on EDM, keep all tooling in good working condition.
Maintain machines and working area in a clean orderly manner.
May be required to instruct other personnel.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience:
High School education or equivalent is required.
A minimum of 10+ years of CNC screw machine experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
Must have good working knowledge of all tooling (drills, taps, chasers, boring tools, and cutting tools) and a good working knowledge of machining qualities of machining materials (brass, nickel, silver, phosphor bronze, invar, etc.)
Physical Demands:
Frequently carries (by hand) smaller quantities of brass rod (total weight approx. 30-40 pounds from stock area to machines.
Operator is standing 90% of the time.
