    Job Description

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Basic understanding of public health surveillance strategies
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of SAS for data management and analysis
    • Experience conducting data cleaning processes (e.g., record deduplication, variable structure and coding standardization)
    • Experience in monitoring and addressing data quality issues
    • Experience in the utilization of statistical software (e.g. SAS) and/or probabilistic data linkage software (e.g. Link Plus, Link King) for conducting data matches
    • Experience in utilizing Microsoft Excel
    • Experience in the utilization (e.g., record searches, data importing, data extraction) of public health data systems
    • Experience in the development of data reports presenting descriptive analyses
    • Contributes to the design, development, and modification of data management infrastructure and processes in order to maximize data completeness and quality, and to expedite data analysis and reporting.
    • Develops data management policies, guidelines, and protocols
    • Develops and implements appropriate monitoring and evaluation plans for assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of data management systems and processes
    • Provides guidance in identifying, defining, and documenting data collection and reporting requirements consistent with local and federal needs
    • Provides technical assistance and training to staff regarding data processing and management procedures and protocols
    • Provides recommendations and guidance in the integration of new technology and/or applications for improving data management processes and/or addressing evolving surveillance program needs

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree or equivalent
    • Extensive Experience in working in healthcare, public health or a related field
    • Extensive experience in data analysis, data interpretation and data visualization

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, functions, etc.)
    • Proficiency with using statistical software packages such as SAS
    • Experience using SQL
    • Experience with Tableau (intermediate or advanced) is a plus
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and also lead team projects
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-service focus
    • High level of attention to detail
    • Ability to quickly and accurately integrate new tools and technologies to meet needs

    2080 Hours

    Work Environment:

    The tour of duty for this position is Monday – Friday and may include some evenings and weekends. The work is to primarily be conducted virtually unless there is a specific task that needs to be completed in the office or the agency returns to the office more broadly (Washington, DC 20002).

    The period of performance is from date of award through September 30, 2021.
