THE CHALLENGE
The GE Appliances Communication Team is seeking students for up to a yearlong internship experience in Louisville, KY at the company’s headquarters where they will have the chance to gain practical experience and exposure across communication disciplines.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The internship, ideally over a one-year period (summer internships are also available), will have meaningful assignments in five main pillars: corporate, workplace, brand/product communications, citizenship and digital to create a better understanding of the function and build competencies that will prepare students for a post-graduation, entry-level communications position. The assignments are structured around the peak season for each pillar to expose the students to the most exciting opportunities.
Program specifics:
The intern will rotate through five pillars:
June – August – Workplace Communications
September – November – Citizenship
December – February – Brand/Product Communications
March – May – Corporate
Ongoing - Digital Communications
The intern will report to the pillar leader. The pillar leader is responsible for creating meaningful assignments that develop key competencies for the pillar such as:
Develop a strategic communications plan including audience segmentation
Learn to set key performance indicators and measure success of communications efforts
Project management
Business financial literacy
Crisis communications
Writing in the workplace/storytelling
Video scripting
Managing a photo shoot
Press release writing
Media relations such as pitch letters, prep for media interviews, media training, etc.
Learning a broad spectrum of digital communications tools
Measurement
Corporate social media
Effective presentations
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Required Qualifications:
Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in a degree program such as Public Relations, Communications, English, Journalism or another related field
May 2023 or later graduation date
Cumulative GPA >3.0 (out of 4.0)
Be willing to work part-time (20-30 hours) or full-time (40-hours) during the standard business work hours of 8 AM to 5 PM
Legal authorization to work in the country/region where the business is hiring is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now, nor in the future, for this position.

Most positions are located in Louisville, KY (our Corporate HQ). Assignments are also available in Camden, SC; Decatur, AL; LaFayette, GA; Selmer, TN. Housing and relocation assistance is available for eligible students.
