    Position: Licensed Veterinary Technician Schedule: Full time (40 hours)

    Required education: Associate’s Degree (A.A.S) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Veterinary Sciences.

    *********Required license or certification: New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Companion Animal Medical Center, located in Rotterdam, NY has an immediate opening for a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Applicants must be focused, organized, self motivated, outgoing and friendly. Your technical skills will be utilized and challenged, with room for growth and continued learning on a daily basis.

    A new addition to our staff should have a strong worth ethic, be a true team player, proficient in client education, have strong interpersonal skills, have the ability to lift 50 lbs.

    Duties and Responsibilities may include the following:

    Draw blood and complete various laboratory tasks.

    Assist in office visits.

    Perform triage tasks for emergency patients.

    Monitor anesthesia and prepare patient for surgery.

    Perform ultrasound exams (based on qualifications).

    Take x-rays.

    Place IV catheters.

    Obtain patient history from clients.

    Enter charges into computer system at the end of each client visit.

    Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all working areas.

    Daily cleaning

    Monitor and care for all inpatient animals (this includes walking, feeding and cleaning).

    Call and update/answer questions for clients.

    Perform routine dental procedures.

    Restrain animals safely.

    Show respect and compassion for all clients, coworkers, and animal both alive and deceased.

    Maintain client confidentiality at all times.

    Assist with end of life services.

    Administer and store medication correctly.

    Restock supplies throughout the hospital.

    Laundry

    Fulfill other duties assigned by management on an as needed basis.

    Schedule: Monday - Friday Rotating Saturday shifts (1/2 day only)
