    OVERVIEW: Companion Pet Partners is a General Practice Veterinarian Platform with an aggressive acquisition strategy and a growing number of sites primarily located in California, Arizona, Oregon, and Nevada.  Companion Pet Partners is looking for a lean consultant resource to be available for 2-3 weeks per month to drive process improvement across several of the Companion Pet Partners veterinarian practices, enhancing the overall customer experience while increasing productivity within the site.  The key objective is to increase productivity of the targeted sites to maximize revenue per DVM while improving the overall customer experience.

    THIS IS SHORT-TERM CONSULTANT ROLE

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    APPROACH

    •  Spend time at targeted veterinarian practices to understand the differences in process and roles and responsibilities while documenting best practices and identifying nonvalue added activity
    •  Assess the highest performing sites and lower performing sites to understand areas contributing to variance in performance
    •  Map patient journey from the time they walk in the door to the time they exit the facility to improve customer experience, efficiency, and maximize DVM revenue (value added activity)
    •  Process map site operation work flows for productivity and improved patient experience.  Incorporating best practices, facilitate the creation and adoption of standard work and daily management practices to sustainably improve productivity
    •  Create best practice playbook for adoption by other targeted sites and
    •  Build and implement the “best in class” future state process

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    •  Drive targeted process improvements focused on improving the customer experience while increasing productivity and revenue per DVM
    •  Be the conduit to share best practices across the sites
    •  Assist sites and company leadership in the development of a process improvement roadmap (i.e. how to use different lean tools to drive sustainable improvement in results)
    •  Provide formal and informal lean training & coaching 
    •  Facilitate kaizen events and process mapping exercises
    •  Promote and facilitate diagnosis of workflow impediments and other wastes throughout the site operations and provide expert advise on appropriate lean tools to improve the process

    MOST IMPORTANT COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

    •  Teamwork – must be able to lead a team of associates within a veterinarian practice
    •  Ability to influence others – must be able to inform, convince, and persuade others to action on initiatives
    •  Results orientation – must deliver results
    •  Technical excellence – must posses the lean technical skills and must have significant practitioner experience
    •  Communication – must be able to effectively communicate at all levels within a site and across sites

    COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

    •  Significant practitioner experience in transactional process improvement within a medical setting (ideally hospital or veterinarian setting)
    •  Demonstrated proficiency applying lean principles in a variety of situations
    •  Mastery of a variety of lean tools including process mapping, waste identification, development of swim lanes, standard work, facilitating kaizen, etc...
    •  Ability to design, develop, and implement a process improvement roadmap for an operating business
    •  Hands-on and detailed-oriented, but also able to see the big picture
    •  Very customer focused and has strong interpersonal and communication skills
    •  Quick study who can rapidly adapt to the individual and unique culture that exists within a practice
    •  High energy and ability to get things done
    •  Independent worker, who can navigate the personalities within a veterinarian practice
    •  Superior training, consulting, and influencing skills

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

    • Master’s degree in business or related field

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

    LOCATION:

    • Remote and onsite at multiple veterinary hospitals California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington and Oregon
