    This position is Los Angeles-based and currently works remotely. 

    ROLE OVERVIEW 

    The Business Data Analyst will develop, populate and maintain Companion’s proprietary database of veterinary hospitals to research, prioritize and maintain business intelligence on acquisition opportunities.  

    RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Build upon an existing database of veterinary hospitals in target markets, using publicly available and Companion-sourced information to develop robust practice information on independent veterinary hospitals in target markets

    • Provide data-driven input to inform Companion’s acquisition strategy, utilizing the database, mapping technology and updates on practice acquisitions, as well as maintaining information on corporate competitors and the veterinary industry as a whole

    • Support the Development team in planning and executing outreach to veterinarian practice owners, including assisting in the coordination of Companion’s presence at live and virtual conference attendance, continuing education events, and marketing initiatives

    • Work with Companion leadership on other database and data intelligence initiatives as needed, including tracking and developing reports on our hospital-level marketing initiatives

    • Apply creativity and critical thinking to solve data-related problems, to accelerate the population of the database and to augment our analysis of markets and target acquisitions

    • Operate with independence to prioritize and complete projects in an environment with a high degree of urgency and need for accuracy

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree required

    • Experience within the veterinary industry preferred

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including use of pivot tables, formulas, macros and VBA

    • Experience working with SQL, MS Access and other related database tools strongly preferred

    • Comfort working in Word and PowerPoint is required, familiarity with Tableau preferred

    • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills to interpret practice and demographic data

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

    • Advanced report writing and presentation skills

    • Comfort in creating and executing database management projects independently with a high degree of accuracy and quality
