    OVERVIEW: The Development Analyst is primarily responsible for supporting Companion’s acquisition, due diligence and integration of veterinary hospitals in the western United States. They will have experience participating directly in multiple acquisitions, from target identification and due diligence through operational and financial integration. Additionally, the Analyst will develop, populate and maintain Companion’s proprietary database of veterinary hospitals and research, prioritize and recommend acquisition opportunities.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Using an existing database of veterinary hospitals in target markets, the Analyst will supplement the database with publicly available information and their own analysis to create a target list of acquisition candidates.

    • This role will be instrumental in guiding the investment decisions of Companion. The Analyst will create compelling presentations and analysis to support their recommendations.

    • The Analyst will assist in reviewing and confirming the information contained in balance sheets and profit and loss statements of veterinary hospitals and will be able to model future performance of acquired hospitals based on input from Sellers and Companion.

    • The Analyst will monitor the veterinary field by following fundamental economic, industrial, and corporate developments. They will analyze information from financial publications and services, investment banking firms, government agencies, trade publications, company sources and personal interviews.

    • This role will also work with Sellers, Brokers and other third-party resources to manage components of the due diligence process of Companion veterinary hospital acquisitions. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate, timely and complete data collection, as well as contributing to a positive hospital onboarding experience for Sellers and their Staff.

     

    CAREER DEVELOPMENT

    • This position will be highly visible to company senior management and Sellers. The successful Analyst will have ample opportunity to add to their scope of responsibilities and advance as Companion grows.

    • As an early hire of a new company, the Analyst should be prepared to take on a variety of assignments and projects not solely limited to hospital acquisitions. Examples range from assisting in preparation of presentation materials for board meetings, representing Companion at industry conferences and helping our hospitals access and utilize Companion resources.

     

    COMPETENCIES

    Language, Math and Reasoning

    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial statements and demographic data. Ability to write reports, create compelling presentations in PowerPoint or similar software. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and peers.

    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as profit and loss, margins, key performance indicators, purchase multiples, commissions and capital ratios.

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or 4 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Valid driver license

     

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Excellent with Microsoft Excel

    • Proficiency with Tableau is required

    • Comfortable working in Word and PowerPoint

     

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Less than 20% travel
