DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Social Media Assistant will help promote and elevate the brand by producing timely, accurate, compelling, and engaging digital media content and campaigns for the College’s official social media accounts. Engage key audiences through use of platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Work with colleagues, departments, students, freelancers and others, as appropriate, to reach desired audiences and achieve goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Assistant Director of Social Media to produce and execute social media content, maintain unified brand voice, and promote engagement of various audiences with the College.
Oversee an integrated production schedule, managing a content calendar for social media in-production and post-production.
Ensure all social media channels are updated and consistently maintained. Develop content and curate daily postings to align messages with the College’s strategic mission and priorities. Cover and/or coordinate coverage of key events designated for social media coverage, including evening and weekends as necessary.
Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing to write and edit social media-related content for the main channels in an accurate, timely, and compelling manner to help maximize reach. Publish information to social media channels and other communication platforms.
Encourage collaboration with various social media teams across the institution, and leverage content and messaging from campus accounts, as appropriate, in a timely manner.
Track online alerts and regularly monitor social media sites and comments. Manage online discussions in a timely manner and craft responses as needed. Monitor social media channels for industry trends.
Support the Chief Communications Officer and Director of News and Media Relations in crisis communication by ensuring that approved College messages are distributed through social media channels as directed; monitor social media conversations for feedback; and ensure that supervisors are made aware of community concerns.
Responsible for fully understanding and following the guidelines and restrictions on several different social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, etc.)
Review analytics and create reports on key metrics that analyze and assess in both qualitative and quantitative terms the impact of social media.
Support other department functions through writing news and features for publication, newsletters, web, and other platforms as directed. Perform other duties as assigned.
