The Laboratory Analyst is responsible for performing analysis in various matrices using GC/GC-MS/ICP-MS instrumentation. This position will also perform routine functions such as sample preparation and lab maintenance. Analyze samples and report results in an accurate and timely manner. Check that all test results are entered into the LIMS system in a timely fashion. Perform daily calibrations to ensure that instruments are functioning properly.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and directions regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
- Prepare and standardize reagents and solutions as required.
- Prepare calibration and quality control standards, duplicate and spike samples.
- Analyze samples on the GC/GC-MS instrumentation.
- Evaluate data and troubleshoot problems with instruments, support equipment, and sample preparation processes.
- Perform instrument/equipment calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) requirements without deviation, except where approved by Supervisor or Manager;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
- Assist in other areas of the lab as required and with other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
About You:
The ideal candidate would have:
- Completion of B.Sc. or University degree (desired but not required)
- 0-3 years’ experience in an analytical laboratory or related field experience (asset)
- Previous experience with GC/GC-MS instruments or other laboratory instrumentation would be considered an asset.

- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) at an intermediate level.
