    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    The mission of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is to awaken the human spirit through contemporary dance, envisioning a dance landscape that is relevant and accessible to all.

    Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is seeking a creative professional to join the External Affairs Team. Hubbard Street's Content Creation Specialist will support the Marketing and Development departments by serving as the in-house graphic designer, videographer, and editor. Adhering to the organization's brand and style guidelines and with input from the External Affairs team, this individual will create compelling visual and written content to generate ticket revenue, increase charitable contributions, and clarify and expand Hubbard Street's brand. This position will also be heavily involved in developing and acting as the voice of Hubbard Street on the company's social media platforms, as well as create promotional materials to support Education and Community Programs and Summer Intensives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced creative seeking a rewarding full-time design and media position with a leading contemporary dance company.

    Hubbard Street is a hybrid work environment, and this role is required to be on-site at least 2 days per week. The External Affairs team conducts day to day operations remotely, but in-person attendance is required for all performances, events, certain filmed rehearsals/classes, and occasional meetings. On average Hubbard Street hosts 2 fundraisers a year; between 6-8 stewardship events between Sept. and May; and 3 performances series in the Fall, Spring, and Winter.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    • From $55,000 per year

    DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Creates dynamic multimedia storytelling assets around Hubbard Street's productions and events, education and community programs, and Summer Intensive programs for Hubbard Street's website, e-communications, social media, paid advertising campaigns, and external distribution.

    • Plans, shoots, and edits video content—including trailers for upcoming productions, video packages for the annual fundraising gala presentation, mini-documentary videos based on artist interviews and behind-the-scenes capture, audience and participant testimonials, archival multi-camera footage of performances, and other creative projects.

    • Supports the Marketing and Development departments with graphic design for advertisements, brochures, programs, invitations, social media assets, Summer Intensive and Education promotion, and email/web.

    • Develops and acts as the primary social media voice of Hubbard Street across channels such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Blue Sky, etc, acknowledging how to adapt voice and content for a specific audience.

    • Collaborates across departments to create unified visual brand for content, from ideation and development to execution and evaluation.

    • Manages and maintains photo/video hardware, software, and equipment. Captures, organizes, archives, and distributes multimedia content.

    • Aligns to Hubbard Street's brand guidelines, ensuring all content complies with the relevant brand and style guidelines and serves Hubbard Street's vision and strategic goals.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Applicant should have 3-5 years of videography, graphic design, and social media experience; possess excellent technological and organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    • The applicant should demonstrate a sophisticated and bold creative eye for compelling and dynamic visual storytelling.

    • The applicant should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude.

    • The applicant should have the ability to follow design briefs, take and incorporate notes and critiques, and also lead and direct a creative process if requested.

    • Applicant should have proven experience translating ideas and concepts into a wide range of content, i.e. sizzle reels, short trailers, digital video ads, long-form interviews, documentary features, print ads and brochures, and/or web content.

    • Applicant should have proven experience contributing to the social media voice of an organization; priority will be given to those with experience as the primary social media user of a company.

    • Priority will be given to applicants who have experience working for a dance company or as a dancer.

    • Applicant should be skilled with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite applications.
