    Job Description

    Responsible for managing / executing projects and leading a group of project managers  delivering capital and expense projects within the organization.  They will be responsible for delivering projects on schedule and within budget while engaging customers and owners across multiple functions.

    1.       Responsible for project management execution and management of a team of engineering project managers that provide oversight for the initiation, design, construction, commissioning and operational start-up of business initiatives / goals, programs, manufacturing equipment, facilities, laboratories and office buildings. 

    2.       Ensures that project delivery methodologies, project management processes/principles and project management tools are utilized to achieve project goals. Owns the key project management business processes and improves and simplifies these processes continuously.

    3.       Partners proactively with key customers and to develop and execute capital projects that support business objectives.

    4.       Partners proactively with other group/function managers with strategic partners (Finance, Procurement, etc.) to support business objectives, streamline business processes impacting project planning/execution, and implement business process changes.

    5.       Delivers successful projects, effectively balancing scope, cost and schedule.

    6.       Provides guidance, direction and advice to project managers with respect to actions or decisions related to changes in project scope, schedule and cost.

    7.       Manages the project controls function in support of both capital and expense projects at multiple site locations.

    8.       Analyzes and reviews the capital forecast and other planning tools to assess resource requirements and help determine project manager staffing assignments. Develops a strategy for best matching staff talent and competency to business needs.

    9.       Provides feedback and guidance to project managers on professional development and performance. Mentors and assists individual staff in achieving their annual development goals.

    10.    Support Manufacturing and/or Facilities personnel in trouble-shooting problems in the operation of pharmaceutical and industrial manufacturing facility systems and equipment.

    3-5 direct reports.  

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

     

    ·         B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Biochemical, Manufacturing preferred) or equivalent is required.

    ·         Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering project management or equivalent, including at least 3-5 years in a management role

    ·         Direct experience with project management and project planning.

    ·         Direct cGMP related experience required for FDA / EMA regulated environments.

    ·         Experience working with aseptic bulk process and / or filling preferred in pharmaceutical/biotech manufacturing.

    ·         PE, Certification in project management (i.e. PMP certification), and / or MBA is highly desirable.

    ·         General knowledge requirements include all applicable building codes and related regulations, basic design and construction methodologies, (particularly in the process and mechanical discipline) and expertise in project management practices.

    ·         Special knowledge requirements include biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical processes and facility design approaches, plus a solid understanding of cGMP requirements.

    ·         Contacts with suppliers and outside collaborators will occur at the highest levels in those organizations. Advisor to top management on project execution strategies.

    ·         Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas, goals, and results to various audiences. Must deliver effective presentations to senior management.

    ·         Strong organizational and teamwork skills.

    ·         Ability to influence and manage individuals without having direct authority over those individuals

    ·         Creative problem solving skills.

    ·         Requires ability to mentor, coach and develop staff at various levels of seniority and project management experience.

    ·         PC literacy required (MS Office - Word, Project, Excel)
