    Job Description

    In a PARAPROFESSIONAL I position you will act as an active team member in providing for the well-being, education and supervision of children in the classroom.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    1. Performing all job responsibilities in support of children, families, program staff and community resources by following CP Rochester’s mission, vision and guiding principles of respect, integrity, service and excellence.
    2. Maintaining confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
    3. Performing both instructional and non-instructional duties under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
    4. Assisting the classroom teacher in all children’s activities throughout the day, including preparation of children’s snacks.
    5. Supervising children at all times, including pool lifeguard management supervision and physical education, busing and transitional activities.
    6. Assisting in physical care tasks and health related activities as appropriate.
    7. Assists children with behavioral/management needs.
    8. Functioning as a positive, contributing member of the classroom team and demonstrates consistent, nurturing manner toward all children.
    9. Maintaining classroom cleanliness and the orderly appearance of classroom equipment, supplies and displays of children’s work.
    10. Sharing all relevant information related to classroom children obtained from various sources with the classroom teacher.

    SALARY: Commensurate with experience

    EMPLOYMENT:  Full-Time 6 hours per day Monday-Friday 9:15am–3:45pm and Substitute hours. Our schedule follows a school calendar including a 6-week summer program.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
    2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
    3. Experience working with young children preferred.
    4. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
    5. Demonstrated good oral and written communications.
    6. Ability to become CPR and first aid certified and successfully complete required training courses.
    7. Physical Requirements include: sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling and pushing wheelchairs and adaptive equipment, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, crawling, color determination, visual acuity, speaking clearly, listening to spoken communication, sense of taste and smell.
