    The Materials Manager is responsible for material flow from incoming receiving/inspection to line side presentation for production including end-of-line pick, pack & ship (incoming receiving/inspection, offsite raw warehousing storage & control, de-trashing, all industrial material movements, supermarket sizing & replenishment). The Materials Manager is key to improving customer service levels (Fill Rate) and working capital (Inventory Levels). This role is responsible for driving business solutions and practices utilizing best practices to help manage material sizing/replenishment, shipping/logistics, cycle count accuracy, and receiving/inspection using a demand driven approach. The Materials Manager will support the department’s strategic initiative and standardized approaches in material sizing/replenishment, shipping/logistics, cycle count accuracy, and receiving/inspection.

    Success in this role is defined by driving significant step function changes in material storage & picking efficiency, elimination of material shortages, inventory accuracy and dock-2-stock effectiveness. This will be measured by ongoing improvements in delivery performance and working capital.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain)
    • Advanced degree, MS in Supply Chain Management and/or MBA
    • 3-5 years industrial materials management or related experience
    • 1-2 years supervisory experience in Warehouse Management, Shipping/Logistics, Receiving/Inspection, Material Replenishment (Kitting, Supermarkets etc.), Cycle Count
    • ERP/MRP
    • Materials & Supply Chain Certifications
    • Association for Operations Management (APICS)
    • Ability to relocate to another metro area within the state of Alabama

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensures material flow from incoming receiving/inspection to line side presentation for production including end-of-line pick, pack & ship (incoming receiving/inspection, offsite raw warehousing storage & control, de-trashing, all material movements, supermarket sizing & replenishment).
    • Oversees inventory management and control, accuracy, and established inventory guidelines and procedures.
    • Ensures efficient and accurate materials presentation to support production operations.
    • Leads annual review of material sizing and replenishment to proactively support demand changes (up/down).
    • Oversees process execution for excess and obsolete materials.
    • Manages and optimizes daily warehousing operations including staging, cycle count, receiving, storage of materials per SIOP, shipping of finished goods and in-direct materials.
    • Partners with the Quality, Tactical Purchasing and Production to develop effective and efficient solutions to customer quality and delivery issues and to achieve objectives and KPIs.
    • Ensures high level of communication between customer service, demand planning/management, strategic sourcing/tactical purchasing and production to ensure a high degree of customer satisfaction.
    • Develops and implements standard process and strategies that enable material velocity enabling pull-based replenishment methodologies
    • Develops and challenges resources to improve performance through systems utilization and process improvements.
    • Leads and improves Material/Inventory Management best practices including Warehouse Management (Cycle Count Accuracy, Transactions, Bar Coding, RFID) and Advance Replenishment Methods (MRP, Stocking Programs, VMI, Consignment, Re-Order Point and Direct Pull), Fill Rate (Overtime Delivery), and Working Capital (Inventory Turns), and Material Margins (TCO).
    • Leads and directs materials staff development through education, training, coaching, mentoring and certification in the execution of improvement priorities and the achievement of key performance indicators.
    • Maintains appropriate staffing levels for daily material management balancing resource capacity to workload.
