    Process Engineer/Chemical Engineering

    Job Summary:

    The Chemical Engineer supports all production related activities by developing and implementing ideas that result in improved performance in safety/environmental, quality, production cost control, material yield and process operations fabricating metals for the semiconductor industry. Ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with in-depth process design engineering experience in chemical engineering. Ideal opportunity for chemical engineers that enjoy working with operators on the plant floor, being an innovative chemical engineering team member with autonomy owning a state of the overall process and the competencies to fill in as the department manager when needed.      Responsibilities:

    • Monitor process performance and identify process control and quality control problems and develop implement ideas for eliminating problems, reducing cost, improving operability and yield
    • Maintain a safe work practices and make all reasonable efforts to comply with PSM and all other company policies and regulations affecting the safety and health of our employees and the environment
    • Provide technical support for preparation, startup and optimization of new or revised production processes
    • Assist in the development and future revision to Standard Operating Procedures and ensure compliance
    • Communicate regularly and openly with operators, technical support and management to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, quality, environmental or efficiency of the unit
    • Provide training to production personnel as required
    • Fill in as department manager when needed

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Ability to use communication skills to build relationship with process operators
    • Excellent time management skills with an ability to meet deadlines
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Solid understanding of engineering science/chemical processes
    • Understanding of safety and environmental compliance as well as general knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 standards
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
    • Ability to gain trust and commitment from all levels of the organization to effectively run day to day operations
    • Applied knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques
    • Demonstrated ability to solve highly technical problems
    • Some travel required ~ 10% (internationally & domestically)
    • Direct experience with the use of spreadsheet and database software to compile, analyze, and present data
    • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, lean manufacturing)
    • Ability to execute tasks with minimal oversight
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite specifically Word and Excel
    • Familiarity with CAD and SAP

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
    • Masters’ Degree in chemical engineering a plus
    • 5 five years’ experience in a production, research or design environment; or an equivalent of education and experience
    • Professional Engineer License a plus

    Physical Requirements:

    • Exerting up to 20 lbs. of force to move objects
    • Occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling
    • Frequent walking, talking and hearing
    • The work environment will include indoor and outdoor conditions with temperatures ranging from 32 degrees F to 100 degrees F, high noise levels, mechanical parts and electrical current, high places, and process chemicals, including vapors and mist
    • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment including hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, protective suiting, face shields and respiratory protection
