  • Responsibilities

    The Quality Assurance Manager plans and executes strategic initiatives to ensure food safety and expand the Quality Systems of the organization. Manage and direct all aspects of quality assurance to reach optimum quality and efficiency. The plant is located 90 minutes south of Baltimore, MD.

    • This is a stable opportunity with a growing 180 non-union employee aseptic process food & beverage manufacturing plant for a multi-billion dollar company. Thermal Processing – Canning or Aseptic experience is a requirement

       

      ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work with manufacturing management in improving and expanding our quality assurance procedures to ensure food safety is at the forefront at all times, reduce returns/complaints, reduce scrap, and provide follow-up activities on corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.

    • Establish and maintain appropriate Quality Systems. Ensure compliance with in-house and/or external specifications and standards to include HACCP and GMP. Actively contribute to the data collections, trend analysis, investigation and improvements to processes, products and systems.

    • Work with quality and manufacturing to create and/or modify methods and procedures to ensure that appropriate processes and/or products are developed, tests are conducted and that products, materials, and manufacturing equipment meet required standards.

    • Design, evaluate, implement and maintain quality assurance programs and systems for product and/or process development, manufacturing and testing to ensure product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.

    • Support QA Director’s initiatives

    • Manage the day-to-day quality assurance of food products produced and shipped.

    • Responsible for the implementation and management of the internal Quality Audit procedure and schedule.

    • Track and initiate investigation of complaint trends.

    • Assures the development and utilization of equipment calibration and preventative maintenance systems.

    • Manage product hold release programs.

    • Manage six direct reports.

    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

    • Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

       

      SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Highly developed leadership skills to ensure all quality programs meet current customer and corporate expectations.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

       

      MINIMUM EXPERIENCE PREFERRED (NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE):

    • Bachelor’s Degree required -biology, chemistry, food science or related field plus 5+ years of experience.

    • Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing required

    • Thermal Processing – Canning or Aseptic experience is a requirement
